What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a procedure which stimulates the electrical energy of the body along certain pathways or channels of the body. This electrical energy is the basic healing force of the body. There are certain movements of electrical energy along these pathways which if blocked or insufficient can lead to pain, inflammation or to deeper problems or disease. However, there is also potentially a healthful pattern of energy movement along these channels somewhat like an electrical circuit. If this healthful pattern can be re-established and the unhealthful or diseased pattern can be done away with, the fullness of the body's healing capabilities can be released and often amazing changes can take place.  Traditional Oriental herbal formulas are prescribed and distributed here as needed to further promote the healing process. This is done in accordance with the above mentioned principles of creating energy balance in the whole system.

Is it painful?

One of the greatest objections prospective patients have is needle insertion. This fear is entirely overcome with this particular style of Japanese acupuncture. There is absolutely no perception of a needle being inserted and it is so gentle that even children can receive this acupuncture without anxiety.
